Orders are being taken for a new NPCA publication entitled, 'Keep It Clean: machinery hygiene guidelines and logbook to prevent the spread of pests and weeds'.
The booklet has been produced for operators of machinery, vehicles or equipment that move from place to place in rural areas. If not properly cleaned, these machines can spread pests and weeds around the country, causing significant environmental and economic impacts.
Developed by NPCA (National Pest Control Agencies) in collaboration with Local Government New Zealand, Rural Contractors New Zealand, Federated Farmers and the Ministry for Primary Industries, 'Keep it Clean' contains two key messages:
Clean your machine: the guideline section explains when, where and how to clean machines; and
Record the clean-down in your logbook: by keeping records in the logbook section, machine operators can show their commitment to good hygiene practices and provide a record to help trace sources of new pest or weed invasions.
The publication has been designed for everyday working use, in a sturdy spiral-bound booklet format.
ORDERS: To order, download the order form and send to NPCA. A read-only copy can also be viewed under A series best practice Code A16.
